Monteverde and Arenal Volcano

These are just s few pictures from my weekend excursion to Monteverde Forrest and the Arenal Volcano.

On Friday, we drove for a couple hours to the Arenal Volcano, which is the third most active volcano in the world. The hotel we stayed in Friday night was nice but there were several bats in our room along with other various bugs and lizards.  We were eventually able to get all of the bats out of our room for the time being. Friday night we went to the Balda Hot Springs resort which is basically a water park with about 12 pools and 3 water slides.  All of the water is naturally warmed from the volcano.  The upper most pool was the hottest and as you went down the mountain the pools got cooler, although they were all pretty warm or hot. I don’t have too many pics from there because it started raining.

Saturday, we left Arenal Volcano and drove for about an hour to a natural hot river. We stayed there for about and hour or two. We then went on a hike through the rainforest.  We saw some monkeys but it was hard to get good pictures because they were so high and fast.  After the hike we took a fairy across a lake and drove way up in the mountains to have lunch and continued to our hotel in Monteverde.

Sunday, we road zip lines through the rainforest canopy…it was probably the coolest things I have ever done.  I was also able to do a “Tarzan” swing that swung me out from the forrest out over a wide open valley.  It was an awesome excursion.

That was a quick explanation of the weekend.  Enjoy the pics.
